PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Yale women's squash team lost 5-4 to the Stanford Cardinal in the consolation round of the CSA Women's Squash National Championships at Princeton. Today's match marked the end of the 2016-2017 season for the Bulldogs, who will finish No. 6 in the national rankings with a 12-6 record.

The No. 5 Bulldogs and No. 6 Cardinal previously met on Jan. 21 in Palo Alto. In that meeting, the Bulldogs won several tight matches and were able to win 5-4. Today, the Cardinal were able to turn the tide against Yale and pull off an upset.

Seniors Jenny Scherl and Shiyuan Mao once again played well for the Bulldogs, ending their Yale careers with wins in the one and four spots. Freshman Lucy Beecroft, who won yesterday playing the one spot versus Columbia, returned to the two spot for Yale and defeated Stanford's Chloe Chemtob 3-0 (11-9,17-15,11-5). Fellow freshman Jessica Yacobucci also won a point for the Bulldogs in the nine spot, defeating the Cardinal's Anna Marie Manning in five games (14-12,7-11,8-11,13-11,11-8).

Although today marked the last team match for the Yale women, several members of the team will compete next weekend in the CSA Individual National Championships, which begin Mar. 3 at Dartmouth
