NEW YORK -- The Yale women's squash team completed its first Ivy League weekend of the new year with a 7-2 win over the Columbia Lions. With the win, the Bulldogs move to 7-0 on the season, including 3-0 in Ivy League play. The team will now return home for the beginning of spring term classes on Tuesday before traveling to play in-state rival Trinity on Wednesday
Coming off yesterday's win over Brown, the No. 6 Bulldogs came out poised today and handed the No. 7 Lions (4-3, 1-1) their first loss on the season. Despite losing in two of the top four spots, Yale was able to use its superior depth to capture a win on the road.
"Our underclassmen did a great job of playing hard through the entirety of their matches," said senior captain Shiyuan Mao. "Overall, the team is very excited to remain undefeated and have momentum going into Wednesday's match against a very strong Trinity team."
Yale will have to continue playing at a high level in Wednesday's match versus Trinity (7-0), who is currently the No. 3 ranked team nationally. The Bulldogs fell to the Bantams 8-1 in last year's meeting.
