PHILADELPHIA — The Bulldogs passed their toughest test of the Ivy League season so far with a victory over No. 2 Penn on Sunday. The win keeps Yale's perfect conference record intact heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

The Elis (10-2, 5-0 Ivy) came into the day understanding the caliber of opponent they faced and the contest's implications for the Ivy League title chase, and responded superbly as they raced to a 3-0 lead in the first slate of matches. 

Sophomore Max Martin turned in a dominant performance at No. 6, winning 11-1, 11-2, 11-2. Junior Liam McClintock and senior captain Sam Fenwick each grabbed victories in four to establish the Bulldogs' early cushion.

Two wins put Penn in position to rally, but not before sophomore Thomas Kingshott made his contribution in the fifth slot to put the Bulldogs one match short of clinching victory.

A pair of tight contests saw juniors TJ Dembinski and Kah Wah Cheong defeat their opponents in five games apiece, sealing the Yale win. 

While this weekend's results put the team in excellent shape in the Ivy standings, two more hurdles await next week on the road against No. 5 Dartmouth and at home against No. 7 Harvard. The result of these matches will determine whether Yale can capitalize on its success so far and claim the Ivy championship; as the lone undefeated team, the Bulldogs control their destiny.
