NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Despite another strong performance, Yale women's squash fell in a second straight Ivy League contest on Sunday as No. 5 Princeton eked out a 5-4 victory over the Bulldogs at the Brady Squash Center.

Yale (8-3, Ivy 2-2) came into the match off a 6-3 loss to No. 2 Penn on Saturday. In that match, however, the Bulldogs played some of their best squash of the season against a premier opponent, and the team felt confident heading into their second contest of the weekend.

The heart of the lineup came through for Yale, winning matches at Nos. 4 through 7, but the hosts dropped the bottom two matches while Princeton's talent at the top gave the Tigers three more victories for the decisive total of five.

The closely-fought battle came down to a number of individual matchups. Freshman Jen Davis won in four games, but her 16-18 loss in the first frame exhibited the intense level of competition seen across the board. Senior Issey Norman-Ross came close to pulling out a win for Yale at No. 3, but lost her final two games after going up 2-1 (8-11,12-10,7-11,11-9,11-8). Likewise, freshman Jocelyn Lehman fell in five game at the eighth spot (6-11,11-9,11-6,10-12,11-6). Sophomore Shiyuan Mao hung on for a 3-2 victory at No. 5 (11-8,14-12,8-11,6-11,11-7). 

The two losses put a dent in the Bulldogs' hopes for an Ivy title, but they will have three more opportunities for league wins next week as they face No. 11 Brown, No. 3 Harvard and No. 7 Dartmouth.
