PROVIDENCE, R.I. — No. 5 Yale began its final week of Ivy League play with a 7-2 victory over No. 10 Brown Tuesday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
With the win, Yale (14-2, 4-1 Ivy) began a critical week of play on the right foot. The Bulldogs are still in the hunt for the Ivy League title, but need to win out in order to keep their hopes alive.
Although Brown (10-5, 0-5 Ivy) snagged wins in the bottom two spots, Yale swept the top seven positions en route to a decisive victory.
The Bears put up quite a bit of resistance against the Bulldogs at times. Although senior captain Lilly Fast won all three games of her match at No. 6, Brown's Mina Shakarshy twice pushed her to tiebreak points, including an grueling 18-16 battle in the first game.
After the win, Yale will return to New Haven and prepare for its final home match of the season — a rivalry showdown against No. 1 Harvard. The action will begin Friday at 6 p.m. in the Brady Squash Center.
