AMHERST, Mass. — No. 5 Yale began its 2013-2014 squash season with two 9-0 victories this Friday, defeating No. 18 Amherst and No. 15 Williams. 

In the first contest, the Bulldogs handed Amherst (1-1) its first loss of the season with a strong all-around performance, earning 3-0 wins in all nine matches. Yale's victorious lineup featured many of its younger players, including sophomores Annie Ballaine, Georgia Blatchford and Amanda Roberts as well as freshman Shiyuan Mao, Madeline Tomlinson and Jenny Scherl, who played in the No. 1 spot. 

In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs blanked Williams, once again winning all 27 games. Seniors Millie Tomlinson, Kim Hay and Shihui Mao anchored the team in the top three spots. 

Yale's next action will come after the winter break. The Bulldogs will face No. 13 Franklin & Marshall and No. 14 Drexel on Jan. 8.
